Chili Peppers bag...

Description

:giggle: Do you know how hard it is to photograph a bag that is mostly black?? :evillaugh:

Anyways, this is one of my masterpieces that I've been creating this year :excited: ...my wonderful friend Koni :iconsametimenxtyr: *sametimenxtyr gave me a similar bag last July, that her aunt had created... the original idea of this bag being to carry a small dog in... but, since I'm not a dog person... the bag that Koni gave me became my everything bag... and I absolutely loved carrying it!

Yes :giggle: the sewing and :camera: photography are all mine!! :woohoo:

I just finished making this bag last week... it is going to be a gift for a business associate of ours who has been very gracious over the past 3 years... and needs to be acknowledged in a special way, for her extreme kindness!! :meditation:

Hope you like it! :iconwoohooplz:

And for those of you who are interested, here are some of the "technical" aspects of the bag, as well as design features that I changed on my bags:

The "screen" openings in the bag are made using a product called pet screening... it is available in a number of colors... that can be sewn with a sewing machine... but, the fact that the screening in the bag that Koni gave me was black... the bag showed no signs of dirt, even after I had carried it for 6 months... and sat it everywhere! :wow:

So, as my "after Christmas sew time" approached last year... I knew precisely what I was going to attempt :giggle: ...and was very excited :eager:

In preparing my patterns, etc.... using the original bag as a "go by" ...I was amused to find that the inside pocket had a zipper that I had never discovered

In my design, I've added an additional inside pocket... and make the hand/shoulder straps from black broadcloth... and use long scraps of the pet screening inside the straps, for durability and to add strength to the straps. The amazing thing about the pet screening is that it is QUITE strong, and it takes an amazing amount of force to break even a very skinny piece of it... when pulled on! :omfg:

Due to the bag being made primarily of pet screening... it doesn't seem to matter how much it gets crushed... it will "pop" back up, and return to it's original shape. The depth of the bag prevents anything inside from falling out... and the pet screening camouflages the contents! The inside zipper pocket is great for keys or emergency coins.

Since I didn't find the inside zipper pocket on my original bag for 6 months :ashamed: ...I'm now putting a found lucky penny :shamrock: inside the zipper pockets of the bags I create :giggle: ...so that when the recipient finds the penny... they've also located the zipper pocket as well :XD:

When the bag does finally get dirty enough to need cleaning, it can easily be washed in the washing machine... by just pinning the straps inside during washing.... then hanging it up to air dry when done!

The "character" of the bag can be changed to "fit" the recipient by the choice of colored fabric used to embellish the bag :excited:

Due to what at first seems like a complex series of sewings and turnings :giggle: ...there are no exposed seams in this bag... and therefore nothing to get caught on anything!

These bags become a real labor of  ...for it takes an incredible number of hours :faint: ...as well as several days to complete a couple of them, due to the number of individual pieces that must be sewn, prior to the assembly of the finished bag. In just sewing the final seams, it requires turning the almost finished bag inside and back out 4 times! :ohmygod:

But, the finished bag is well worth the extreme effort!! :woohoo:

I did get tickled though when I presented this bag to Bob's mother

for she immediately started hounding me... saying that I should make these bags for sale  ...well, let me assure you... if you want to actually make any money with your sewing  ...this ISN'T THE BAG to do it with! :lmao:

I finally managed to shut Bob's mom up :evillaugh: ...by telling her that in order to get 2 cents an hour, I'd have to charge $100 a piece for these bags!! :XD:
A bit of an exaggeration, of course :lmao: ...but, truly not far off the mark! :lmao:

Here's a picture of another version of this bag:

If you love it :+fav: it, and I'll know you loved it! :iconsnuzzleplz:
let me say thanks, in advance for every :+fav: that you leave for me...
I'll also make every effort to get by your gallery in the near future, and return the favor. But please be patient with me, for I earn my living as an artisan, with my hands and eyes, and DA is my relax time... and sometimes that time must be short :cries: in order to keep the bills paid!
